Date tahini

A HINT OF MIDDLE EAST

Sesame is one of the oldest oil plants known to man. For centuries it has been used as a condiment and as an ingredient of numerous delicious dishes. It is primarily used in the Middle Eastern cuisine. Apart from taste values, sesame has a wide range of health properties. The substances found in it can help decrease blood pressure and the level of bad cholesterol, at the same time preventing the development of such diseases as atherosclerosis or thrombosis. Our sesame paste – tahini – was enriched with date syrup. It not only gives it a sweet accent but is also a rich source of vitamins and nutrients. Among them we can count calcium supporting bones and magnesium that is invaluable when it comes to struggling with insomnia, stress and muscle cramps. Our date tahini is enriched with sea salt and rapeseed oil.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Due to the fact that dates are sweet, both fruits and their derivatives are a wonderful natural substitute to white sugar and other sweeteners. The already mentioned date syrup can be prepared at home. You just need to remove seeds from 500 g of dates and boil them in 500 ml of water for approximately 20-25 minutes. When it cools down, blend the dates and press the paste through a sieve – the liquid you will receive is the date syrup!

Date tahini is a delicacy that perfectly matches any breakfast. It will work as an addition for crêpes and pancakes, as well as spread for sandwiches. Due to its sweet taste and nutritional properties of sesame, tahini with date syrup can be used also for porridges, desserts and cakes.
